Participants must be 13 years to 15 years old when the program starts.
The BDC Counselor Leadership Training program is a leadership development opportunity for rising 13 year old entering or in 7th, 8th and rising 9th graders led by Breakaway Day Camp leadership and staff. Students will be challenged to grow as leaders while developing the skills, knowledge, and Christ-like character for which BDC counselors are so well known. This program is the perfect last step toward the BDC counselor position and a respectable professional future! The four-week session involves a unique development experience, engaging service hours, and pertinent spiritual and professional training for their transitional stage of life. The session directly prepares the way for these students to walk into the counselor role at BDC as soon as they complete 9th grade. Successful completion of the three-week program as a rising 9th grader guarantees a counselor spot for the following summer as well as a higher starting pay than other starting counselors.
